Ladyslipper orchids do not eat insects. Instead, they shamelessly use them for purposes of pollenation, then let the insects leave. Apparently, it's less costly biologically than it would be to make a nectar treat.

Ladyslipper Orchids
(Paphiopedilums, Phragmipediums)

Intriguingly shaped blooms have a "slipper" on the front! Colors vary; blooms generally last 2 to 3 months in perfection. Prefers indirect light; water frequently to maintain consistently moist growing medium. The ones at the top bloom repeatedly on the same stem!
